Lesley Cowley

Lesley brings more than 15 years of experience in registry operations, internet governance and policy and TLD management to the Architelos team.  Most recently, she was the CEO of Nominet , where she led the registry through significant change, rapid growth and development, building it into one of the world’s premier registries.

As part of a portfolio career that utilizes her passions for IT and digital, the DNS and cybersecurity, Lesley has chosen to continue her work in the Domain Name Sector with Architelos, working as an Executive Coach and Consultant. She continues to volunteer withICANN both as a Women in DNS co-founder and organizer, and as an elected Councilor of the ccNSO (Country Code Name Supporting Organization).

In other arenas, she is Chair of DVLA –the UK Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency where she works with the Chief Executive on transforming the services it provides, particularly via digital technology. She is also a Non-Executive Director of  aql [AR1] , the award-winning telecommunications, mobile messaging and data centre business.

 

Additionally, Lesley continues with several voluntary roles, including being a Panel Member of the  RUSI Independent Review of UK Surveillance, BCS PPAB Board Member and a  speaker for schools , hoping to inspire the next generation of girls into IT.

 

Lesley has an MBA (with distinction) and an OBE, for services to the internet and ecommerce.


Phil Kingsland

Phil is a technology, marketing and communications professional with over 20 years experience and a passion for bringing clarity to complex issues.  During his time as Director of Marketing and Communications at .uk registry, Nominet he was responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communications strategy, raising the profile of .uk and positioning Nominet as a global leader in the Internet industry. His passion for bringing clarity to complex issues is highlighted in his work championing and driving Knowthenet, Nominet’s Internet advice site, which uses innovative digital campaigns to help educate consumers and small businesses alike about key Internet issues.

Prior to Nominet, Phil worked with management and technology consultancy, Axon Group plc, where he was Head of Marketing, working with a range of blue chip clients, Kraft, Xerox, BBC, building the brand and leading key elements of the growth of this business from 80 – 1,000 employees.  During his early career Phil worked with a range of start-ups at the forefront of their fields developing, marketing and selling high-tech products.  He has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacture and Management from the University of Birmingham.


Kurt Pritz - ICANN new gTLD Consultant, gTLD Consultant

Kurt Pritz

Strategist, Policy Expert, Imagineer, Lawyer and Physicist.

Kurt provides strategic, policy and operational consulting to domain name industry clients helping them to navigate the complex changes coming to the market.

As an integral part of ICANN’s Executive Team for more than 9 years, Kurt was responsible for providing stability to ICANN’s finances, developing robustness in the multi-stakeholder Internet governance model, and maturing relationships with ICANN’s key stakeholders. He established ICANN’s operational foundation: delivering initial strategic, operating and staffing plans; establishing the first contractual compliance and stakeholder relations functions; and providing stability in IANA services delivery.  Kurt is best known as the architect of ICANN’s new gTLD global policy effort that opened the door to an expansion in the number of top-level Internet domains: providing greater choice, innovation and competition to the world’s Internet users. His ability to negotiate and find common ground among diverse interest groups enabled success in this and other ICANN policy development efforts.

Prior to joining ICANN, Kurt spent nearly a decade at Walt Disney Imagineering where, as Vice President, Engineering & Production, he was responsible for the technical design and delivery of theme park shows and rides worldwide. Kurt also served Eaton Corporation as Plant Manager, responsible for establishing automated assembly facilities, and advancing the state-of-the-art in electronics and avionics manufacturing.

Kurt holds a BS and MS in Physics, an MBA and a JD and is admitted to the California State Bar. He has been published in technical journals and in law review. He has testified before US Congressional Committees on three occasions and was named one of the 50 most influential people by Managing Intellectual Property magazine (2011 and 2012).


Norbert Grey

Norbert Grey was a founding member of the .MOBI management team as VP of Finance and Administration from its inception to December 2008. He established all the operational systems for the then start-up registry. .MOBI was the most successful launch of the last round of gTLD introductions in 2004. His expertise includes set-up and management of registry financial, business and customer service operations. He is a Chartered Accountant with more than 15 years experience in senior financial roles, not only in the DNS industry, but also in the technology and mobile telecommunications industries.

Norbert has a B.S. in Management from Trinity College in Dublin and a B.S. in Business Studies from the Dublin Institute of Technology.

John Matson

John has more than 25 years experience advising Fortune 500 companies on cost structures, margin enhancement and implementation of new growth-oriented business models.

John brings deep analytical skills and structured problem solving from his technical engineering experience. He has performed several projects for ICANN, including advising on the new gTLD program and benchmarking previous gTLD launches. John has also benchmarked current registry and registrar financial performance.

Prior to joining Architelos, John was a partner with both KPMG and Ernst & Young management consulting practices. As a consultant, John helped clients improve profitability 15-50%, reduce working capital 20-60%, implement enterprise resource planning systems and restructure operations. Prior to consulting, he worked for General Dynamics and was responsible for developing highly sophisticated computer-aided design and manufacturing systems. He began his career working for the United States Air Force, developing propulsion technologies at the Air Force Rocket Propulsion Lab, Edwards AFB California.

John received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and M.S. in Engineering from Purdue University. He is an Eagle Scout and active board member for the Los Angeles Area Council Boy Scouts of America. He lives in Los Angeles, California, with his wife and two young sons.

Alexa Raad

Alexa brings more than 20 years of experience in the technology industry with a track record of building internet brands and developing new markets. Alexa is the only executive in the industry who has launched a new gTLD and managed a large incumbent gTLD to market success. She served as .ORG The Public Interest Registry’s CEO from 2007 to 2010. She grew .ORG’s base by 40% and increased revenues by 81% through re-branding and re-positioning the TLD. Under her leadership PIR was named a FUTURE 50 company, recognition reserved for the 50 fastest growing companies in the Greater Washington, DC area.

Prior to PIR, Alexa was the Chief Marketing Officer and co-founder of .MOBI, the most successful TLD in ICANN’s 2004 round of launches. She also founded the DNSSEC Industry Coalition and the Registration Infrastructure Security Group (RISG), both international industry groups focused on innovative approaches to resolving security issues on the Internet. Alexa is an influential leader in the area of internet security and stability and has hosted forums and participated on many panels examining related trends and best practices.

She is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, Mindshare CEO Alumni Network, and GWU Luther Rice Society. Alexa received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, and her MBA and MSIS from George Washington University.
